Parish & Wright Launch Austin Law Firm
ENTREPRENEURIAL AND RURAL INTEREST LEGAL ADVOCATES LAUNCH NEW AUSTIN LAW FIRM,
PARISH & WRIGHT, PLLC
Austin-based attorneys John T. Wright and Russell G. Parish announced today the launch of their new firm, Parish & Wright, PLLC. With over thirty years of combined experience, the founders bring a solid understanding of the region with experience in multiple business disciplines and areas of practice that include regulatory, administrative, government relations, entertainment law, complex real estate transactions and business/non-profit matters.
Growing up in farming and ranching environments, Wright and Parish also have a comprehensive understanding of the issues faced by small businesses in rural areas which has allowed them the opportunity to work and advocate on a variety of legal and policy matters impacting rural areas.
“I have been fortunate to be an advocate for rural Texas during my legal career and I want to thank all my clients who have trusted me with their legal business as I established my own practice over the past few years,” said Wright. “Partnering with Russell was the next logical step in honoring that trust by creating a firm that understands their issues and can better meet their needs than I could in my solo practice. I am confident we can leverage our expertise and relationships with other law firms, whether in D.C. or elsewhere in Texas, to help meet all our clients’ needs — be it advising in the board room, negotiating a real estate contract, or handling a matter at a regulatory body or before the Texas legislature.”
“Having served a general counsel role to a variety of businesses as well as having worked in large law firms, I am excited to return to small private practice with my former colleague and Christian brother John T. Wright,” said Parish. “Together, I believe our nimble boutique firm can offer partner-level experience at a predictable price point that is below many big-law associates.”
Wright grew up in Hawkins, Texas, attended Abilene Christian University and earned his law degree from Texas Tech University. His focus has been representing rural electric cooperative clients in corporate and transactional matters before the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) and government relations matters at the Texas Legislature. Wright has worked on various transactional matters in the music industry and is also Secretary of the Independent Music Alliance, a trade association for musicians, songwriters and music industry professionals based in Austin, Texas.
Raised in Earth, Texas, Parish went to Texas Tech for undergrad and earned his law degree at the University of Texas. Known as a “deal lawyer” and advisor to corporate executives, Parish holds a combined general counsel experience of more than a decade with three major Texas companies, including a Fortune 500 forest-products and real estate conglomerate; a National Class 1 Railroad with headquarters in North Texas; and privately held businesses focused on freight hauling/logistics, agri-business and resource management.
